The 48-year-old, who already has two children of her own, is now the proud mom to a year-old son, according to government sources in Malawi.

They claimed she picked the little orphan from among 12 boys specially chosen before her arrival.

The government lifted a ban on non-resident adoptions specially for the superstar.
Madonna has joined a growing list of celebrity mothers, including Angelina Jolie, Mia Farrow and Meg Ryan, who have adopted babies from the Third World.

The singer and Ritchie have a five-year-old son, Rocco, and the American singer also has a nine-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship.

Madonna arrived in the impoverished African nation's capital Lilongwe yesterday by private plane.

Residents in Mphandula, which has no electricity, were busy rehearsing songs for Madonna's arrival, they were trying to get the words to "Like a Virgin" down, but as of today they're still having problems.
